What is website strategy?

Strategy, strategy, strategy.. it is one of those buzzwords in business, especially in brand and web design. But what does it mean to have website strategy?

To simplify it a bit: Designing a website with strategy means that you are designing every aspect of a website with the intention of completing a goal. Typically the goal for your website is something like: book clients, get email sign-ups, direct people to sign-up for a course, provide information for a business, get people to buy a product, or whatever your businesses goals are.

So, what does it mean to have website strategy built into your website?

1. Intentional Design
One HUGE element of having a strategical website is to have design that intentionally prioritizes your brand story and is built around telling that story in a clear, engaging, and organic way. This can come from working off of a well-deigned website template or working with a web designer!

2. A well-crafted user experience
Having a well-crafted user experience is instrumental in website strategy! You want to create a web experience that is easy for visitors to navigate. Easy for them to find what they need, to book with you, to understand who you are and what you do, and of course – how you help them! A good user experience will answer all of their questions before they even have to ask them. AND your website should direct them to take that desired action, a.k.a. book with you, buy your course, etc.!

3. Cohesive colors, fonts, and brand photos
Having cohesive brand colors, fonts, and photos that you use throughout your website helps to create a unified look and feel on your website. This also adds to the legitimacy of your brand and of your website.

4. SEO!
SEO is major is making sure your website is strategically designed to help you in achieving your goals. This means making sure your headers and text is all appropiately tagged with h1, h2, h3, p, etc. to tell Googel what is important on your website. As well as, making sure all your pages include metadescriptions and titles!

5. Copywriting that positions you as the expert you are!
Well-crafted copywriting is going to position you as the expert you are and present you as THE solution your clients need. It is also going to be easy to follow, it should keep visitors interested, and again, inspire them to take action.

Now a days, most people are surfing the web and will most likely be coming across your website on a mobile phone. So, it is immensely important to make sure you website is optimized for mobile use. This means that your website looks just as good on a phone as it does on a computer!
